When you started to buy maternity clothes, what size did you get? Did you size up or buy your true size? I’m a medium in tops and large in bottoms and I don’t know if I should size up or if the clothes are made stretchy enough to accomodate a bump and bigger thighs, etc. I haven’t put on much weight yet and I’m 18 weeks but I’m planning on buying some maternity clothes for summer so that I have the stuff when I need it and don’t have to worry about items being sold out.

Kind of depends on the brand. I mostly bought true to size. Most of the maternity items will strech with your bump too, so as a rule you’re probably fine buying your pre-preg size.

I got everything in my normal size and it worked for me for the duration of my pregnancy x

Usually you can buy your normal size. They are made to accomodate the bump lol

I usually buy my normal size except I go up a little in the pants (I tend to carry some extra weight in the backside when expecting). You will likely want to get measured for maternity/nursing bras- that can be a whole different ballgame depending on how your top half behaves. Congratulations!

Normal size, its made to accomodate the bump if buying maternity clothes. Since you’ll be quite pregnant over summer, try maxi dresses too, that way you can still wear it afterwards too.

Pants: invested in five or so maternity pants in my size, wore throughout my pregnancy
Tops: Bought a size up in several normal non-maternity tops and wore most of my pregnancy. Bought a few true to size maternity tops for the third trimester, and a few black maternity tank tops to wear under cardigans and jackets especially for the third trimester. It made it look like I had more clothes than I did!
All in all I didn’t want to spend a lot on maternity clothes, so buying (used/thrift/consignment) a size up for most tops worked really well.
