So I really love the look of mermaid dresses and fitted a-line dresses but I have a little bit of a tummy. It’s not that bad I guess…I still have time to work out and get rid of it before the wedding. It seems like a lot of brides wear spanx but I only want to wear it as a last resort. Do corset back dresses help brides with a little bit of a tummy?

A lot of times Yes. Look for something with good structure and boning through the bodice and waist. Maggie’s are really good for that.

I dont think they did anything for my stomach when I tried them on. I stood sideways and still had my little pouch, It gives everyone a great waist so that probably detracts from it. Ruching is extrememly flattering for that.

I am actually very interested in the Maggie dresses. They are so gorgeous! There is one Maggie dress that I love that does not have a corset back. Could an alterations person make it into a corset back?

well…i have aLOT of tummy and it helped me.
Example: here are pictures of me on our honeymoon… so… like two or three days after the wedding.
Here are two pics in the dress.
So…. corsets are amazing.

@carolinagirl104: I think most times they can change it into a corset, but I think it might depend on the material? You would have to talk to a seamstress or the bridal shop to see

um, wow! you’re obv gorgeous either way, but you are gorgeous and LITTLE in that wedding dress! Woe is me, I don’t like the look of corset backs, but I definitely want similiar nipping and tucking. Is there such a thing as a hidden corset, with a panel that has faux buttons or something?

Most of the dresses I tried on had a corset, and they had enough structure and fabric that I think Spanx would just be an added and unnecessary layer. You won’t know what you think of them until you try them on but I thought they worked wonders on my fat belly! 🙂
