Don’t worry, it’s not a stupid question considering most shirts men wear don’t have the holes for cufflinks!

Cufflinks are just that; little pieces of metal to hold your shirt sleeve cuffs together. Nowadays there is a button and a hole on the cuffs. Some shirts (french cuff shirts and tuxedo shirts) have two holes instead of a button and a hole. You hold the cuffs together, slide the cufflink through the two holes, and twist the toggle on the cufflink so it holds the cuffs together.

Typically a rented tux comes with cufflinks, but you would certainly be able to use a pair that you buy. Just keep in mind that unless he has a french cuff shirt, he may not be able to wear them again. 🙂

Hope this helped!

PP was completely right 🙂

I love a man wearing cuff links.  It makes them super sexy.  Weird I know.
