Hi bees,
I am confused and need some help. I have been charting for a while, but fertility friend keeps telling me that I ovulate later than I have always thought. I have copied my recent chart so that you can help me clear my confusion. According to my notes, I ovulated day 16 and FF says day 26. What do you think?

it looks like FF is right. the temp spike on the 17th wasn’t sustained since you got a drop the next day. do you use OPK’s also? and do you temp at the same time every morning?
eta- actually the more i look, the more i’m not sure. that would be a really short luteal phase if you O’d on CD26. i would try using OPK’s around the time you think you’re O’ing and see if you get a positive. if not, try again around the time FF has you O’ing.

@calibee79: Thanks I will do that. Do the OPKs really work? I heard most of the time they will come out negative. I also heard that it is a good idea to do it twice a day.

@candy11: you can miss your surge if you don’t do it twice a day. i almost missed mine because i was only doing it once a day. i’ve heard it’s best to do it mid afternoon and early evening but i don’t see why you couldn’t do it in the morning also. get the cheap ones from amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Wondfo-Step-Ovulation-Strips-50-Count/dp/B004IJHDN6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1361760198&sr=8-2&keywords=opk+test+strips
i don’t find them hard to read. it’s a positive only when the test line is as dark or darker than the control line. i saw a line almost every time i tested but it was faint so it was a negative. the day before i got my positive, the line was darker but still not as dark as the control. i try not to pee for a couple hours before testing but i’ve heard so many conflicting things about taking an OPK so i’m not sure it really matters. when i got my positive, it was very obvious and it showed up within 30 seconds (you’re supposed to wait 5 minutes to read it).

Hard to tell from you chart when you O’ed. I definitely second OPKs, I also didn’t really think much at first about them but then when I started using them I found them to be very valuable.

I’m not actually sure if you did O this cycle. O on CD16 would put your coverline at 97.3, and you have way too many dips below that number. O on CD18 looks sort of promising, but that would put your coverline at 97.2, and again, you have a lot of dips below that. I’d say CD18 would be your best best for O if it did happen, since CD26 would give you such a short LP. What’s your usual LP, do you know?
