The reduced room rate for our guests was probably the only real perk of setting up the block of rooms. They offer a free room with a certain number of reserved rooms but it was after 30something. We probably won’t get to that number though.

We got rooms blocked at 3 hotels here in Seattle. One of the hotels is our ‘preferred’ hotel as we are having the rehearsal dinner and Out of Town guest reception following the rehearsal dinner and then we are having the day after brunch. They gave us 1 comp night because we are having those functions and then with every 20 rooms booked we receive a comp night.  in the end I think we’ll have about 3 comp nights….  The other 2 hotels didn’t offer us anything  Frown

i found it to be pretty standard, but it depended on how many rooms youre blocking.  one of the hotels we’re blocking rooms at is comping our honeymoon suite and breakfast the next morning.  the other hotel is giving us serveral 2 rooms suites (the 2 bedroom ones) for the same rate as the other rooms in the block.  my mom and her sisters are all staying together in one, my Mother-In-Law and her daughter and their families in another, etc .

We setup blocks at 3 different hotels, with the one closest to the venue being the preferred. At each we received a reduced/discount rate for guests and a free upgrade to a suite for the Bride/Groom

We blocked rooms at one hotel.. we got a discounted rate for all the rooms. If a certain amount book (20 rooms over 2 nights- which we will def get)- we get the honeymoon suite comped for one night, rose petals, and champagne (totally cheese but ill take it!!), private room for our free continental breakfast with our guests the next morning, and an AMEX gift card of sorts which I will put toward the shuttle to and from wedding.

We only got the reduced room rate. Mainly because it’s a UW-Badger home football game weekend. So the downtown hotels really don’t have to do anything to get business – and would only give me a block of 10 rooms. I have 3 blocks of 10 at 3 different hotels. Of course, once I hit 10 reservations, they open up more rooms for my block. But it’s still irritating.
