I still have dental insurance from my husbands previous job, however it is expensive each month since DH is no longer with that company. I have reached my max for this year. Can I just cancel the insurance? I dont see a reason to keep paying for it each month when I cannot use it for at least 8 more months and the coverage amount is not high at all. Sorry if this seems silly! I honestly dont know lol. I just wanted to make sure there is no repercussions to dropping them. thanks in advance

I’m guessing this is a COBRA extension so you may be able to cancel at any time and not just at their annual enrollment periods (you’d have to check their policy to be sure), but you may not be able to make changes to the plan. Example, if you have medical and dental coverage you may not be able to cancel just one portion.
There should be an 800 number you can call to find out for sure. Do you have coverage through his current employer or yours and this is just secondary coverage?

You should check directly with the insurance carrier to get the answer to this question.
