Actually, our jeweler told us that we should get 10K white gold instead of 14K because 10K is stronger/more durable.  I’m sure you could google it to find out more.  As I understand it, the higher the number, the softer the gold because the lower the number, the less actual real gold is in the piece (other metals get mixed in).

Didn’t know about the difference in durability I had figured the higher better.  Thanks for that.  About the brushed finish, I’ve heard it’s more difficult to fix any scratches than a satin finish.  That’s what the FH was told by a jeweler, which has him contemplating on which he likes more.

Just another question…

Have you thought about getting two different bands for him?  That’s something that I have been debating on.  I’d love for my Fiance to have something more fancy to wear on weekends and when we go out, but he’s a hard worker, and does intensive labor with his hands.  I’m think about going with something 10K and plain with a comfort fit (they can be found REALLY inexpensive) so that he doesn’t have to worry about it during the day!  Also, I have read somewhere – I don’t remember where – that brushed is actually more durable than a smooth finish because you can’t see the stresses and flaws that happen day to day…

Either way, I think you’ll be fine!

My Darling Husband has brushed.  When we got it they resized it right in the store (Jared) and then the guy quickly rebrushed it and it looked fine.  We bought it two days before our wedding and we didn’t have time for them to send it off.  I can’t tell the difference.
