I dont know about anymore, but I know 15 years ago only a few were open on Sat. Most held m-f hours, but that totally could have changed.

Look up a number of a store or booth on that street and call and ask them.

Have you ever been before? You will be surprised! Its not what most expect.

@AshleyM623:  Maybe bad? There is a lot there, but its not as “nice” as you think. Lots of tiny shops, most not that especially updated or clean. There are large warehouse like rooms with booths of jewelry, like an indoor flea market. its not plush and luxorious that many expect. but this is a good thing, because the less they spend on overhead and the more competition they have the cheaper their prices.

If the store is owned by a Jewish person, it is probably closed on Saturday in observance. Some are open on Sundays to make up for the lost day.

I work in the diamond district in Philadelphia and approx 75% of the stores are closed on Saturdays.

Hello!

My Fiance works in a non-diamond-district company in the diamond district. He worked with a jeweler there to design my engagement ring and we are going to go back to him for our wedding bands. From my experience with talking to him about his process, I would say that they wouldn’t be open on Saturday. You are best to go M-F 9-5.

SO and I are going there in 2 weeks to pick out a stone and E ring setting! From what I’ve heard, appointments are required in many places. I’m also nervous/on the look out for jewelers w/fake diamond certifications.

yep, unless you go to a more high end (ie: pricey) store like Tiffany’s, Cartier, Michael C Fina, only a few are open on Saturday because most are observant Jews and observe shabbat on saturday. By The Way, if you want amazing service and great value- go to ID Jewelry and ask for Yeuketiel (sp?)…you can google him or look him up through the message boards on pricescope, you will get the most for your money! They have site too, not sure what the web address is though.

* MOST places are open on Sunday too! Not just m-fri

We bought our wedding bands in the NY diamond district and were surprised how many stores were actually open on Saturday (I had thought almost all would be closed). We went to Iannelli & Sons (who are open Saturdays) as they’d been recommended by a good friend, and we were pleased with what we got and the price we paid.
