If you have followed any of my previous posts on other boards you may know that I’m having some possible peri-menopausal issues. I’m only 32 but my history with cancer and the type of chemo I had when I was 16 is catching up to me and my cycle has been pretty wonky the last few months.
I’m trying to research as much as possible what’s going on but I’m getting dead ends. I’m so frustrated and I have no help with the females in my family. They have either all had hysterectomies OR are not at the age of menopause yet.
In November I missed my period. My periods have been irregular for the last 3 years at least (that’s when I started charting them regularly). My cycle would be anywhere from 24 days to 32 days. So at first when I was late in November I didn’t think much of it because as I said my AF has been irratic for a while. When I mentioned AF was a no show to my orthopedist she suggested taking a pregnancy test even though there wasn’t a chance for me to be pregnant. I did which was negative, then she brought up possible Premature Menopause due to my history of cancer. I started to get freaked out, bought Ovulation tests for home and made an appt with my family doctor.
I tested positive for OV on November 24. I got AF on Dec 3rd but it was not a normal period. It was heavy, HUGE clots and lasted for 10 days. I figured it was to be expected because of a previous missed, I’ve read/heard that after missing your next AF could be heavier and longer. AF left on Dec 12, then came back on Dec 20th lasting 7 days which is longer than normal but shorter than previous and this was more like a normal period for me meaning it wasn’t heavy, no clots etc. Except that I didn’t have any of the PMS symptoms that I normally have.
I was confused and took a OV test on Dec 25th, it was negative. Yesterday Jan 1st I took another OV test which was positive. So based on my cycle the past 3 months I am figuring that I didn’t OV in October/November, hence no AF in November. I OV’d late in November which is why AF arrived early Dec. I OV’d again the following week which is why I got AF the week after the first AF (I didn’t take an OV test because I wasn’t expecting another AF visit). And now a week after AF’s last visit I’m OVing again.
I hope this isn’t confusing anyone, even though I’m confused myself. But does that sound right to everyone? That I am ovulating every 2 weeks lately?
I should mention that I did see my doctor Nov 26th and she suggested waiting to see if AF showed up. I am now just waiting to see when I get AF again and possibly to see if I keep getting AF every 2 weeks like I did last month. I had labs when I had my appt and everything came back normal so there really wasn’t much to go on. I haven’t lost a ton of weight rapidly, I haven’t been stressed (until now) and my thyroid labs were normal.
I’m just trying to figure out my OV cycle to make sense of this. Based on the 2 positives I’ve gotten they are consistent with my AF visits, but that means that Dec’s OV’s were crazy, I OV twice within a week of each other???
Sorry so long but I can’t get my mind off anything but this, and I’m driving myself and my Fiance crazy with all my searching for answers. Thanks for any help in advance.
