Just wondering… did you pay your dress in FULL amount BEFORE getting your dress? or AFTER getting your dress? or THE DAY you got your dress?
I’m curious because… my dress is supposed to be paid in full amount by end of this August… and i’m suppose to get my dress this September… But, I contacted them today and they said that I will be getting it in mid November instead! Isn’t that kind of… unfair?! I PAY THE FULL AMOUNT BY THE END OF THIS AUG… YET WAIT 2.5 months for my dress to come in!?!? I just think it’s not fair… What do I tell them…
Thank you ladies.

D, none of the above
I paid about a 40% deposit when I ordered it and paid the full amt plus alterations the day I brought it home.

None of the above. I bought my dress from Pronovias in NYC. 1/3 was due the day I bought it, 1/3 is due at my first fitting and the final 1/3 is due the day I collect it.

Alterations was a flat $500, plus $300 for the custom neckline. Yeah pricey!!

I paid my deposit of $300.
Then at my first fitting I paid the $700.
I still don’t have my dress in hand but I did have my last fitting a few weeks ago. I will be picking it up Friday eeeeeeeeeeek

My Dad put a certain amount down when we ordered (40 or 50%) and we pay the balance when I take it home. The alterations are done be a seamstress outside their salon (recommended, in my home town).

Had alterations done elsewhere, so paid in full the day we picked up…..but it had to be in cash for final payment.

@neyamee: Some dress shops charge the full price when you order. That’s what mine did. Others require a down payment with the rest due later. Either way, it seems like you knew that you paid in full before the dress would come in. Now it’s just a little later than you thought. What’s the problem again?

at my bridal salon you pay 50% the day the place the order and then the remainining balance the first time you come to try it on.

D. I put it on layaway and paid off alittle a month until it was paid off and then i got to take it home.

I put 1k down as a deposit and the rest is due at my final fitting.
I think as long as you have a good contract you’re safe.

@MidwestBride2012: Yeah… I’m disappointed that instead of waiting for less than a month… I have to wait for about 2.5-3 more months to get my dress! =(

I paid the full amount the day I ordered my dress, July 29th, and it is supposed to come in in September…so that’s at most a 2 month wait, if it comes in on the very last day of September.
I wanted to just put a deposit down that day and pay the rest when I pick my dress up, but they said they didn’t do deposits and I had to pay the full amount that day. So, oops. Spent 2x as much as I intended to that day so August is going to be a tight month for us haha. Worth it though because I LOVE my dress!

@neyamee: Most special order dresses take at least that long to get in. I’m waiting 6 months after ordering (and paying in full). Where did you get it from/who’s the designer?

Thanks everyone.. So I guess i’m not the only one having to pay the FULL amt of the dress BEFORE I get to see it/have my first fitting…. did I get that right?
Waiting 2.5-3 months after paying it all off is a long time for me. Heh. I mean, the salon that I got my dress is legit and recognizable… but i just hope they won’t have to keep extending it =S
