Okay I bought my wedding dress of the rack at the store (so didnt need to wait for it to come in) There were a few alterations that needed to be made. (corset and sash) The seemtress called and said my dress was ready to be picked up….BUT im wondering do I leave it at the bridal shop or bring to my mother in laws..I dont think there will have to be anymore alterations done since its a corset what do I do???? Please help need to go up there in the next hour thanks! 😉

I think it depends on what the shop allows. My salon is handling all alterations and allows me to keep my dress there until the day before the wedding (and thus, is fully insured and totally their responsibility). If your seamstress offers the same thing, I’d leave it there. But, she may make you take it with you if it doesn’t need any additional alterations.

I will put mine in my parent’s house after the alterations are finished. If you plan on leaving it at the store, make sure they don’t charge for storage.

I would probably pick it up and bring it to FMILs place. I wouldn’t want to leave it at the store and risk it getting lost or something happening to it. Maybe invest in a good steamer (or rent one) for your wedding day so you can give it a good go over so you don’t have any big wrinkles from it being stored in the bag.

Make sure it fits before you take it. Personally I’d rather have it in my possesion than leaving it at the store (it could get moved or mislabled and cause you all kinds of headaches) especially if the alterations are done.
There could be a chance that they don’t let you take it till all alterations are approved – so make sure you like it before you leave with it. You don’t have much negotiating power about having things fixed if you take the dress and bring it back.
