Ondine:  this is not entirely true. If you plan to use your current setting for the moissanite then it would have to be a peg head in order to put a larger head on the ring to accommodate the larger stone. But under no circumstance should your diamond get damaged in the process. If your setting has an intragraded head then it’s not possible to remove it and you’ll have to have a new setting made to hold the moissy since its quite a big bigger. It all deoends on your setting. Can I see a pic of it from the side?

Ondine:  As long as the prongs can hold the stone size it should be no problem and an easy reset. The information a prior jeweler gave you is not entirely correct. Although some settings can be damaged removing a center stone it truly depends on the setting. I’ve had my center stone reset several times and most recently back to the original pave setting without any damage to the stone or setting.
