I’m sorry, I wouldn’t send my ring out just for a cleaning. My jewler doesn’t send them out, it’s all done on location. If you’re just wanting a cleaning, I’d invest in a good quality cleaner.

I use a Diamond Dazzle Stik. Its 7 bucks in the sotre & is made for precious stones & metals. It is the best stuff I have EVER used EVER! It comes in a tube, you open it up & there is a brush at the end of the tube. You twist the tube & this blue paste comes out. That’s how it works. Its AMAZING! My diamond shines better than the day my husband gave it to me!

You can get it online or in stores.

@cutexkitty: Tiffany’s does this too. I’m not sure about DeBeers, but at Tiffany they will clean the ring in-store while you wait but they have to send the rings back to their main store in NY for polishing/repairs/etc. I plan on having my ring polished before my wedding by sending it to NY. You could always have an independent jeweler verify that the serial number of the diamond is the the same as the one on your certificate when they return it if you were suspicious.

As a side note, I have a sonic jewelry cleaner that I use to clean my ring at home and it’s amazing.

From what I have heard just about any jewelry store will clean your ring on site so If I were you I would shop around.

I’m lucky I guess. My Fiance runs a couple of pawn shops and one has a professional steamer. So I get mine cleaned once a week by him personally.

I wouldn’t send my ring out to be cleaned.  The jeweler we got my ring from is clear across town from us, and sometimes I don’t want to go that far.  There is an equally oustanding jeweler right down the street, and they are happy to clean my ring for me no charge if I just walk in.  (I did get FI’s band there, but even before that they did it).  I think that any reputable jeweler will clean your ring, no worries.

@cutexkitty: I got mine from Jared, and they clean it while I’m in the store. They also have the magnifying glass I can use to verify it’s my diamond. Don’t send it away, save yourself the heartache, and buy a at-home kit.

I wouldn’t send it anywhere to get cleaned, that seems silly.  Most jewelers do it in the store.

I got one of the cleaners from the store for like $8 or $9. I only “get” mine cleaned if I’m around the store I bought it from, and they do it on site. I wouldn’t be able to send mine off just to have it cleaned. I hated separating it the one time I had to and I don’t plan on doing that again. Lol.

It’s debeers and their brand is very reputable. I would send it out no problem. They deal with large massive expensive stones on the daily basis and I doubt anyone would change it. Most of the diamond switches are typically not at luxury branded stores. Debeers is a completely different type of business. If you are that worried then appraise it before you send it and appraise it when you get it back. Also, does your diamond have the laser inscription? I think most debeers diamond do so you can check that too when you get it back.

Absolutely! Every jewelry store has them and it’s just a regular loope. You can even get one cheap for like $10-30. But I don’t think you need to worry at all. People send diamonds away all the time. My insurance even covers it when I ship it because they know people have a tendency to send it away for service. Ive sent my designer bags for servicing without hesitation either. I’m actually supposed to send my ring to Tacori but haven’t gotten around to it. They are a professional brand and wouldn’t risk reputation like that. Your ring sounds amazing though? Which one is it? Do you have a pic, I’d love to see! We were close to getting the debeers “the promise” ring.
