@MrsBoomBoom: Ask your caterer/venue when they need their final numbers?

We set our RSVP date as Augst 15th (for a Sept 24th wedding) because we are having a destination wedding and have welcome bags that need to be made and a mailing that needs to go out to all guests with more details.

If you can go with the 1st or 15th of the month as your RSVP date. Those dates are easier to remember. So maybe March 1st?

@MrsBoomBoom:

It comes down to what your vendors deadlines are and the amount of time you feel that you need to sort through the RSVP and tally. My venue is taking care of everything and their policy is that they need an exact number and guest list three weeks before so I’m building in an extra two in case I have to track down outstanding RSVP’s.

@MrsBoomBoom: It depends. How many of your guests have to travel?

Did you send save the dates?

We send ours out July 1st (so almost 3 months before the wedding) because 90% of our guests have to travel.

@MrsBoomBoom: If you didn’t send save the dates, I’d sent the invites just a little earlier (especially to those who have to travel).

@MrsBoomBoom: Hi dear

Typicall you want to give yourself enough time to track down late RSVPs and then give a more accurate headcount to your vendor. It also depends on how soon in advance the vendor wants your guest list before the wedding.

To give yourself time, I would put the invites in the mail the week of February 6th to give you time in case some invites are sent back and make your RSVP date around the week of March 6th.
