I have been working on making a sash for my dress. I have been stitching a rhinestone embellishment onto a ribbon, and things were going well until…
I noticed that the rhinestone embellishment is not quite long enough to go all the way around. And now the store I got it from is sold out and will not be getting more in. So this is all I have. It will be about 5 inches too short (2.5 inches on each side of the bow tied in the ribbon).
I’m not really sure where the embellishment is supposed to stop though- at the side seams of the dress? Or can it go a bit further without going all the way around?
My fear is that it will look like a got too fat for the sash if there are 5 inches in the back with no embellishment.
So I’m thinking one of two options:
1. Leave the sash as is with the embellishment about 5 inches too short to go all the way around
2. Cut the embellishment (this would be easy to do with the way it’s made) so that the sash ends at the side seams of the dress
Or there’s always option #3 – cut the embellishment to end somewhere just past the side seams of the dress.
Any advice or pictures would be greatly appreciated! I’m not sure why this is causing me so much anxiety!
