Peaceoutboyscout:  since the prongs are attached to the halo you may need to have new prongs made that are attached to the base of the ring that come up through the halo. That way the airline will look more intentional. The other option would be to have your current prongs extended but I’m not sure this would right, the prongs would be very long. I’d take it into a jeweler and see what they think before you purchase the other stone.

Peaceoutboyscout:  the higher the stone the less of an airline there will be when viewing from the top. So setting a smaller stone lower would make a more obvious airline. What type of stone are you considering?

If you aren’t crazy about airlines you probably won’t like it with a smaller stone in there.

Peaceoutboyscout:  i would stick with the same size… besides the shrinkage that could set in, it’s more likely that you will have to get the prongs redone and have the stone sitting at a different height. It’s just too many changes. I think having a colorless stone will already be enough of an adjustment.

Peaceoutboyscout:  I think sticking with the same size is a great idea. Going with a smaller stone would require lots of changes to the setting and probably cost more than if you were to just buy the 5×7 emerald moissy.
