If you let a few of your friends and family know (like your parents and his parents who will be seated at the front) then they can throw them and everyone will take their cue from those people.

I wish I were doing something like that, but my church won’t allow it.

What if you put a little note in the program? Maybe came up with some poem about what to do with the flowers?

My brain isn’t functioning right now, so I’ve got nothing, but a cute poem or note about them would probably do the trick!

Having the guest book attendant tell the people is definitely an idea, too. I don’t think it’s tacky at all.

the short answer:

they Don’t!

missminij is right about giving guests the heads up— if you have a planner have her cue a few of the guests in (especially on the aisles). Otherwise, designate this task to a close friend (non-bridesmaid) to clue in a couple people – preferably in the front rows — this will then cue the back rows.

here’s a tip for that.

when you walk down the aisle, if people haven’t yet thrown, then stop mid aisle and kiss. this will allow guests to shower you and your photog and video to get the shot.
