We have a very long gap between the ceremony and the reception – 6 hours. Right after the ceremony ends – noon – we are going to spend a few hours on a trolley driving around the city to different locations for photos. Should we provide lunch for our wedding party during this time since dinner isn’t until 6:00pm? If so, where? We are going to be dressed up and I am worried about eating out somewhere in my dress. Don’t want to spill anything on it before the reception.
Thanks so much!

Could you pack a picnic? That would be a fun opp for photos and feed everyone. If you are worried about messes you could ask everyone to wear an apron 😉

Ya I think you should feed them!
I think it would be cute to do a picnic or even stopping for pizza all decked out would be adorable!

I think it would be nice to treat everyone to lunch since they will be busy with photos and wont be able to stop for lunch themselves. I second the picnic idea, it could make for some really fun photos. If you would prefer a more upscale lunch then I would look around at some restaurants near where you will be doing pictures that have the space and will fit your budget.

FEED YOUR WEDDING PARTY! if i can plead no other cause on this site, it’s that, haha. my most traumatic wedding experiences have been because i was at the mercy of the hosts in terms of food and was starving. plus, your photos will look better with happy, well-fed, non-fainting bridesmaids.

I’m in the same boat– I actually have a noon-5 pm gap in between the ceremony and reception. Right now my plan is to order a box of sandwiches (with chips and cookies) from Jimmy Johns and get one of the bridal party’s spouses pick it up and bring it to our picture taking site. I’m hoping that works– I don’t want people to faint or have to wait until 3pm to finally get some nourishment : )

yes, definitely feed them, even if it’s just simple sandwiches, ESPECIALLY if there will be drinks on the trolley too.

Please do feed them! If your ceremony ends at noon, it’s going to be a busy morning for you and your wedding party. Between getting dressed, hair, makeup, etc. there won’t be much time to eat a substantial meal before the wedding. If you skip lunch, I promise you, everyone will be tired, cranky, and starving by 6 PM.
I like the picnic idea. Pre-order sandwiches, chips, cookies, etc. from Panera or something, and bring it with you on the trolley.

I think a picnic is a great idea if it’s warm enough and I love the idea of stopping into a bar or pizza joint for some grub. Think of the cute photos!

I figure that a fed bridal party = a happy bridal party. 🙂

The best experience I’ve had as a Bridesmaid or Best Man was when our post-ceremony photos were accompanied by a basket of canapes that we could cart around the estate (and bottles of bubbly LOL). I have been known to flake out if I leave it too long between eating so I was definitely more on top of my photographic game with some yummy little samosas in my belly.
