I think I know the answer but…. Do I inherit FI’s bratty, childish, jealous SIL as my own? Does she become my SIL or just simply my husband’s SIL or my bro in law’s wife? I just might jus refer to her as the latter no matter the right answer. Hmph! I soooo do not want to inherit her:( What do you say, Bees?

She’s your husband’s SIL or BIL’s wife. You don’t have to keep her.

I think so, it’s me that has the Brother-In-Law and my Fiance calls him his brother in law, but maybe we’re weird?

Awesome. She’s not mine. Its settled 🙂

Ha ha! I’ve wondered the same thing. But I like my husband’s SIL. For ease of convo, I just call her my SIL.
But I suppose if you don’t want your’s, you don’t have to have her.

Yes she does become your SIL! Family is family!
But you don’t have to best friends with her!

Based on Wikipedia (awesome source, I know lol), I think you are:
A sister-in-law (plural sisters-in-law) is the sister of one’s spouse, the wife of one’s sibling, or sometimes the wife of one’s spouse’s sibling

@hissoon2be: I am in the same boat as you! My FI’s SIL is SO obnoxious! Spoiled, annoying, selfish… I do not want to be *related* to her! I will most likely refer to her later as “my BIL’s wife” though, haha.

haha, that’s great. We get to choose!

My husband’s sister is my sister-in-law. Not my sister. I call my husband’s wife my sister-in-law, in-law–even though we’re both really happy to be sisters! All my husband’s cousin’s wives– we joke that we are cousin-in-law, in-laws. I don’t know if that will change in the future. I guess it’s overly specific… but we’re all newlyweds so we’re all getting used to it. 🙂
