I have no expertise but I would be skeptical of any guess that early on.

I don’t think there are any clues here

I would be very careful or anyone who though they could tell the gender off a single image of a 12 week scan. My best friend is a doctor and saw my 13 week scan and swore black and blue that it was a boy. I had a girl.

we didn’t find out the sex of our babies with either pregnancy.  our ultrasound tech said she is asked by friends a lot to guess the sex by the ultrasound.  she said you cannot tell from a profile, you need a rump shot.

You could try guessing by the nub theory, but I’m not even sure we’re seeing it in this pic. It could be that little line by the leg? If so I’d guess girl.

I can’t read ultrasounds, I just code off of the radiologist’s reports, but if I had to guess, I’m going with a girl also. Hoping your baby is healthy and your pregnancy goes smoothly, bee!

This is not the angle used to detect the sex; it needs to be from the underside of the butt. Not only that, but at 12 weeks, sex organs are still pretty ambiguous.

No it’s not.. I’m an ultrasound tech.  100% not possible from this photo/angle alone.  And i second PP response.. 12 weeks I wouldn’t even ATTEMPT to see the gender because the genitalia can look like either at this point. Everything is too small.

tinynut_tinywife :  I can see where people would think boy because of that thing poking up from the lower abdomen, but that could be the umbilical cord, part of the other leg, anything.

By nub theory it kind of looks like a boy- but the nub is hard to see, and nub theory isn’t scientifically proven.   My husband was so convinced of it because he accurately guessed the sex of over 90% of babies on a blog that posted old 12-13 week scans along with the confirmed gender.  He did guess the sex of our baby right (a girl!), but he was convinced my friend who was due the same time as me was having a boy based on her ultrasound and nub theory.  They weren’t finding out the gender, but she gave birth 5 weeks early (I’m still waiting for my baby) to a beautiful girl!!  It seems like there might be some significance to nub theory (where you can guess more than half of the time) but it still isn’t very telling!!
