I haven’t taken mine out, but I assume any scar left behind will just look like a deep pore or a blackhead.

I had a nose stud which I LOVED. Unfortunately, it got caught on a towel about three times and fell out. I could never figure out how to put the thing in myself so I always had to take it to a tattoo parlor to put it back in. The last time was a Sunday evening and there was nothing open, so I sadly had to just let my nose close up. I only had it for about a year, but absolutely no scar. You could never tell I had one. I hear you can get a spacer to put in (for a wedding/professional situation).  I might have taken mine out eventually. But I loved the little bit of edginess the nosering gave me (while still being pretty tasteful). Everyone thinks I’m super duper sweet, but it’s the quiet ones you have to look out for 😉 I don’t really want to post a picture, but it’d be pointless anyway because there’s nothing to show.

I have 2 nose piercings on one side, and now I have a hoop and a stud, but for the wedding I had both in as studs so I was going to say keep it in!!!  But since that’s not your question…I know 2 people who have taken theirs out, without any scarring whatsoever. You would never know they had a nose piercing!

smad11:  I took mine out about 2 years ago. I don’t have a scar, but I do still have a teeny hole in my nostril. It looks like a little mole/beauty mark, unless someone is way closer to my face than they ever should be.

ETA: I had my piercing in for 7 years, which might be why it hasn’t closed completely.

smad11:  I still have a hole with it being removed for more than 4 years. I don’t think it’s really noticable from normal viewing distance. I’ve never once had anyone notice it other than my Darling Husband who knew me when I had it pierced and gets way closer to my face than the average person haha. Here is a creepy close up. That little dot above my nostril is a hole. I think it could probably pass as a freckle, which I have a bunch of.

smad11:  I’ve had mine out for 3 years now (had it in for 4 or 5), and I just have a hole there. It’s not a scar because it hasn’t closed up. I can still wear jewelry whenever, but I just choose not to. It is noticable. Someone I met this weekend actually asked me why I don’t wear my nose ring anymore.

I’m on my third nose ring, and have a small diamond stud.  My nose never scarred when it closed up.

Hey, I had my labret pierced (under lip, in middle of chin), and it left a rather sizeable hole.

I have my nose pierced currently. I was on vacation once and it fell out. I wasn’t in a place I could buy a new one, so I went a week with no nose ring and it didn’t close up. I’ve had it pierced for 10 years.

i imagine if youve had it for awhile it will leave a hole. It depends on how big the ring/stud was. I would expect it to look like an earring hole that hasn’t had anything in it in awhile, or like PP said, a deep pore or blackhead.

it will shrink a little. call a piercing shop and ask them how far in advance you should take it out, I imagine it would take a month or longer. in addition, there are products out there that can hide scars. the hole will be so tiny, I imagine it could work to pack a little dermablend in there and powder over it. not sure though. go to a cosmetics counter and find out what’s available (I recommend Nordstrom, I find their people seem more knowledgeable). if they don’t know, maybe try a store that sells theatrical makeup (like a costume shop).

smad11:  I take my in and out and leave it out for long, long periods. It is imperceptible to other people. Mine too looks like a freckle. I’ve had mine for 8 years.

I’ve had my nose pierced twice. Both times it was closed within hours. I don’t have any scar or markings where the nose stud was (I had it repierced in the same spot the 2nd time around).

I had mine for 3.5 years before taking it out. I can see a tiny mark if I look really closely but it’s not obvious at all.

I’ve had mine out for about 5 years (had it in for about 5 as well). There is a bit of a dark mark or scar, it kind of just looks like a bigger pore. Or a slight shadow. No one has ever asked me about it (though I do wear makeup most days).

And from a more resonable, less obnoxious distance.

ETA: please try to look past the dark circles and dull complexion, being at work until 10.30 last night wasn’t so good for my skin. I need my beauty sleep!

I was in this exact predicament. My wedding is in a few weeks… a few weeks back my daughter accidentally pulled mine out and I thought you know what I was thinking about not having it for the wedding etc. anyway…..

Until…my good friend noticed and pointed it out saying where is your nose ring. there is a noticeable hole there. Her comment was that it would be better to see a small speck of diamond than to see a dark spot. I tended to agree with her.

I think that if I take it out after and have time for it to heal it will eventually look like some of the above posters but I do have to agree with my friend. If there is not enough time in between to allow it to heal than there may be a slightly evident hole. So keep that in mind

I of course can only speak for myself and I have had mine in for maybe 10 years so the hole may be worse now.

I would take it out and see if makeup can cover it up and make it less noticeable right off the bat. thats how i would probably judge it. Hope that helps!
