I was married previously and have a 1/3 ct. solitaire diamond engagement ring and a 1ct. five stone diamond anniversary ring (both in yellow gold) that I no longer wear. I’ve thought about having the stones reset into a new RHR but I have no idea how to go about it or what I’m looking at cost wise.
I mean, I know I’d need to find a jeweler and that I could either buy an existing setting and have the stones reset into it OR I could have something custom designed.
How hard/expensive is that?
I’ve also thought about trading them in on something new and actually looked into it once but I felt the jeweler was ripping me off. As I mentioned above, the five stone anniversary ring totals 1ct and is set in yellow gold. The trade was for another five stone, 1ct. ring in white gold. He said he’d give me a 2K credit for my ring (great!) but the new ring was 4K so I’l still have to pay 2K for essentially the same exact ring.
How do you avoid paying too much and know you’re getting a fair deal?
