I’ve only ever seen one thread re-opened in all my years, and it was Orange007 ‘s BLM related thread.

Most threads stay closed but on occasion, we will re-open a thread if we feel constructive comments can continue.

@peach11:  Hi there. Unfortunately, when a post gets closed only a site administrator can reopen (I think! Tyson, correct me if I’m wrong). I know that we do not have the power to re-open, but we can close. This results in closed threads never being reopened, but the “closing for review” is for the mods to go thru and moderate the comments.

@DrAtkins:  That makes sense!

I was actually also wondering–is WeddingBee automatically closing threads that are old? Or is there a mod policy to close a zombie thread if it is resurrected? And if so, what is the cutoff in terms of how old a thread has to be to be considered zombie/too old? (e.g. 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, etc.)

Having been on this website for a while (on and off), I totally get that never closing old threads has been an issue, especially when zombie threads that are years old are resurrected because people don’t realize that they’re old or outdated (sometimes with the original poster long-gone). I have also noticed recently that more threads seem to be closed, and I was just wondering if this is something that WBee is paying more attention to now and whether there is a policy around it or whether it just depends on the thread. Don’t mean any disrespect, just figured I’d ask!

The site automatically closes threads that have hit the 3 year mark.

If a zombie thread is resurrected we will most likely close as OP’s original issue is most likely far behind them.  If it’s something like adding a nice photo to a ring thread, there’s no harm in adding more photos.

We are trying to pay more attention and clamp down on toxic behavior quicker as many complain we let bad behavior go un-addressed.  Still though, I think we close far fewer threads than the previous mod team.

No problem, happy to help! Also, just while we’re on the subject: mods are volunteers and do this in our down time. We try to keep up with the boards, but sometimes we miss things – so flagging posts are the best way to get our attention. If something isn’t flagged, it’s likely to be missed.

Not that everyone should get all flag-happy 😉 lol
