It really depends on the length each photo is shown and the type of transitons (which affects the timing).  Generally you can get 100-150 photos into a 15 minute slideshow.

One suggestion, if you are planning on showing the slideshow during a specified time, 15 minutes will most likely be too long for your guest.  Anything past 5 minutes will lose their attention, 3 minutes is usually enough.  If it is going to be playing in the background then length isn’t that important.

What are you creating the slideshow with?  Be sure to read up on how to properly burn to DVD so the pictures are not pixelated.
