Hmm, usually I got a ‘do you know how fast you were going there miss?’ but I don’t know if they actually have to tell you.  Maybe they were thrown off by the dog freaking out.

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter. The officer still saw you break the law, so he had probably cause to pull you over and had the right to cite you. Sorry!

I agree.. if you didn’t ask.. I don’t think he’s required to say something.

I’m not sure about the state you live in, but in Colorado, I was able to go to court and plead it down so I only got 1 point instead of the 3+ for the speeding ticket.

That sucks! However, having you sign the ticket was, in his mind, probably enough notice to you for why you were getting pulled over/ticketed. I don’t know what the tickets in your state look like, but they usually do have to indicate why you are being cited. I agree with above posters, though– the dog probably just threw him off his normal pulling over routine. Good luck!

FutureMrsTal can you guys not got to traffic school on the first offense? Out here if it’s your first offense within the last 3 years I think you go to traffic school and you don’t get the points (then it’s another 3 years without a ticket and it works the same way). See how much we take things for granted I thought it was like that for everyone . . . oops!
