Because I am in pre-engagement limbo and wanted to see if I was the only one πŸ™‚

I came here as a waiting bee πŸ™‚ many months ago – I was starting to plan, because we had discussed our timeline and I knew our engagement would be shortish, so I wanted to get a head start. Because of the distance in our relationship, we couldn’t get engaged earlier or we probably would’ve, haha.

Well, I was in a serious relationship, but we recently broke up, so I’m not even looking to be engaged anytime soon! I found WB because I was helping my cousin look up ideas for her wedding in October. I’m one of her BMs. Once I started looking, I got hooked. πŸ™‚

I wasn’t looking for a support group exactly, rather that i think i googled something like “signs that your boyfriend will propose” or something to that effect. it linked me to a waiting board post and i gradually made my visit to weddingbee.com very frequent on the basis of having somewhere to vent and to feel comforted that im not alone in my waiting game!

I came primarily to get ideas, but also for a support network.  I’ll be DIY-ing a lot (stressful), we want to have the best bang for our buck (research) and we don’t live close to our families (sometimes you need an objective eye and ear)…so, here I am!!!

Gosh I don’t remember…I think I was bumming around online and googled something engagement related!

My friend was planning her wedding and found the bee and I had a bridemaid dress I wanted to sell, so I logged on to post that.  But then I rediscovered it after I got engaged, and now its like a drug!!  I’m constantly back to check and am hooked!

I’m semi scared to get married (not marriage). It helps to get ideas as well as a support system. My area is rather expensive and I don’t think there could be any way that I could sink 30k (apparently the average) into a wedding.

I got hooked while my best friend was planning her wedding (June 2009), I’ve been an avid reader ever since and I’m waiting for my proposal and keeping track of any ideas for when my time comes.

@MissBuffalo: seriously! I’m scared of the wedding too. So much drama, planning, money, family dynamics….and even if I had 30k sitting around would I really want to spend it on one day? How about upgrading the house? Savings? In this economy, is it really prudent to spend so much on a wedding?

Now that I’m finally hooked on the idea of marriage becuase I love my guy so much, I’m still nervous about the *actual wedding*. But we’ll get there when we get there. If we can’t figure it out, as a last resort there’s always City Hall πŸ™‚ And then have a big party later.  Avoid the “oh, it’s a wedding, that means it will cost 3 times as much” phenomenon…

I was googling a dress that I liked, and saw real photos of it on a real bride, and thought, hey thats cool, and then saw a waiting section… I didnt even realize that wedding websites could have waiting sections, so I started reading it and could really relate to the waiting bees, so I joined πŸ™‚  It’s actually been so helpful to read about wedding ideas without actually being engaged yet, I save certain threads as favourites that I can go back to later when its official!

@DreamingBee lol about getting hooked on the idea of a wedding. That’s me too. I’m trying to make myself excited about a wedding (I know there will have to be one). I just wish it was more about the couple, than about how much they spent (or whether or not they could have spent more and are just being cheap lol). I’m glad too that this website is here and other people understand that “waiting” doesn’t mean you’re desperate.

I came here for the same reason as Miss Boston. My bf and I were looking to custom design a ring (and we’re still waiting for it to be done) so I was googling like crazy trying to get ideas for the ring. I can’t wait for it to be finished!!
