I like the way the 6 prongs make the diamond appear rounder, but read that it may cover more of the stone. Which prong is better for something in the 1.1 carat size range?
Also, does pave or channel setting with tiny diamonds enhance or detract from the main diamond?

I think the most classic, timeless style is a plain band solitaire with a diamond wedding band (claw set, shared prong, etc).
I have a channel-set eternity RHR and it gets very dirty quite quickly, so it constantly looks duller than my claw set eternity ring. But the channel is definitely more comfortable than the prong.
I love the look of pave rings but so many Bees have reported problems with the stones falling out, and I’ve experienced this with a ring too.
It’s difficult to make a decision without trying on rings, so I’d keep an open mind and go try on a variety of solitiares with different bands. I had my heart set of a H&A solitaire but it just didn’t suit my hand and I ended up falling in love with an oval halo, which totally surprised me.
