Just a quick question for you all. I’ve been on the pill for several years, never miss a day, and I’ve never had breakthrough bleeding before. I just finished my period last Wednesday or Thursday, but I woke up this morning with what I’m assuming is break through bleeding (surely my period isn’t “finishing up” today after it already stopped last Wednesday/Thursday right?).
Anywho, Im just wondering what may be causing this breakthrough bleeding? Especially after my period just ended? I admit I have been under an incredible amount of stress lately…could this be the cause? More importantly, does this mean that my pill isn’t working? I’ve read that breakthrough bleeding does not mean that the pill isn’t working, but I’m just looking for more concrete answers.
I would text my gyno…but it IS mother’s day lol. Any opinions/similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!!

It could be stress for sure. Breakthrrough bleeding is common even if you haven’t had it before. I wouldn’t be too worried about it, it could be leftover from the pill period you just had too.

I’ve had problems with beakthrough bleeding with my BC so you are probably fine. When I went to my doctor about it she seemed completely unconcerned – she told me if i had bleeding after sex specifically I should go back for some tests but otherwise its actually quite common and normal

@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: Thank you! I appreciate your response. Since I’ve never had it before, I just freaked out a bit this morning and thought “what on earth is up?” haha

I stressed ot about the same thing a year ago and my doctor also wasn’t concerned – I went back at the end of last year and changed my pill and I on occasion get breakthrough. After my last period I had a major bleed but is all okay and am not pregnant. I think its your body reacting to stress or environmental factors. If you are concerned do go back to your doctor.
