I’m a Bridesmaid or Best Man in an upcoming wedding and we used Weddington Way.  The bride made a page with a selection of dresses she liked, and then we all voted on them.  She had a Bridesmaid or Best Man who lived close to her order the dress first so she could see in in person, and then we all ordered it directly from the site.  The dress was $185, and I’m anticipating also having to pay for alterations (at least hemming, because I’m pretty short).

Is it normal to just tell them the dress you picked and to go order it? – Yes, and to give them a deadline on when they need to order it by

Also, are you supposed to order for all bridesmaids (I dont see this as being an option as we are all in different states), or do you count on them picking out a shop and ordering it on their own. – When choosing a designer, you should ensure that there are bridal shops who sell that desinger’s dresses within a reasonable distance for all your BMs. Then you can let them know which shops near them sell the dress, and they order it on their own by the deadline you gave them.

Finally, do some designers stop creating the dress on December 31st?  If I pick a dress now, and I have a few people that do not order to Feb next year will I be in trouble because the dress will no longer be available? – It’s pretty unlikely that a dress would be discontinued in 2-3 months

I ordered from for her or for him and did as gbees bride did.  It worked out okay except the girls that ordered the wrong size (they ordered the size they were and did not look at the size chart). They are not returnable so thats where you have to be careful

I had bridesmaids in 5 different states. I picked a dress, picked the color, sent them the info (I used David’s Bridal simply because of the fact that they’re everywhere), told them how long it was anticipated for it to come in after ordering and told them to order it and have it ready by the wedding day. I didn’t feel the need to give them a drop dead date or a date to have it ordered, they were all adults and they could govern themselves accordingly.
