Im trying to figure out a good set of questions to ask my potential Doula! I’m meeting her on friday and wanted to see what kinds of things you guys would ask as Im sure I’ll forget a bunch of stuff (any already moms who may have had one)?

Here are a few things we asked when we interviewed for our doula:
Availability for my due date & cost of services, as well as what services are offered (most do 1-2 prenatal visits, the birth, and 1-2 postpartum visits)
What training & certifications do you have?
Do you have any additional experience or education regarding breastfeeding?
Why did you become a doula?
Do you offer photography as well?
What are your favorite comfort measures?
What is your birth philosophy?
What is your favorite and least favorite aspect of being a doula?
I think we had more, but those are the ones I can think of without looking at our sheet. Good luck!! The most important thing is that you and your partner click with the doula- she will be there when you’re at your most vulnerable, so it’s important that you are comfortable with her as a person above all else 🙂

shanbp: A-hah, I remembered some more questions:
Are you familiar with my provider/hospital?
Are you available via text/phone/e-mail for questions I may have during my pregnancy?
What happens if you are unexpectedly unable to attend the birth? Do you have a back-up?
What happens if I make every effort to contact you and you make every effort to arrive, but the baby comes too fast and you don’t get there in time? (I progressed very quickly with Dirty Delete so I have concerns about how fast this one might come- my doula says she will still come and provide post-partum support but refund a portion of the fees if I end up having the baby on the highway or something equally dramatic)

Here are the questions I had.
How long have you been a doula?
How many births have you assisted?
What are you qualifications?
When would we call you?
Do you have a schedule? Backup?
Are you available around my due date?
What are your thoughts on med intervention?
What are your services for moms who need a c-section?
What techniques do you use to help with pain?
Really I just got a feeling that that person was right for me. I interviewed 3 different ladies.
