When does your caterer/venue require final numbers?  I would set the date two weeks prior to that so you can hunt down missing RSVPs.  The deadline is usually about two weeks to one month prior to your wedding.  You should send your invites about 8 weeks prior to the wedding date.

I sent my invites 4 months before becauase we have a lot of family out of province and they need to book flights and accomodations. If you’re getting married on September 21 I’d say it would be best to send them between July 15-July 19 and rsvp at least 4 weeks before your wedding date.

From what I’ve heard from my friends who have recently got married they had to hunt down a few guests to figure out if they were coming so you want to leave yourself that time.
