Obviously the package and pricing matter the most, especially in terms of what your wedding specifically needs, but I was wondering if any of you have advice on what I should ask a potential DOC at a consultation meeting. I feel like there are a ton of articles on the internet about what to ask potential photographers, florists, caterers, etc. but I can’t find anything in regards to what I need to look for or ask of a potential DOC! I have my own questions that are particular to our wedding, but wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.
For those of you who hired DOCs, is there anything you had wished you asked about ahead of time, or before signing the contract?
Thanks so much!!

I emailed with mine a lot and then finally talked with her on the phone, she was amazing. the most important thing was, we got along fabulously … And everytime i could think of a question, i just shot her an email and she responded graciously! I didn’t have specific questions, but just kinda was all over the place… she was good about trying to inform me about any questions i may have before i even asked them too, so that was EXCELLENT!

Here’s what I found important to ask:
Will they run the rehearsal the night before?
Do they charge for travel?
Do they bring an assistant the day of (DOC at the ceremony while assistant is at the reception venue setting up)?
How long will they stay the day of- the entire reception, until dinner is served, etc.?
Do they charge hourly or a flat fee?

Make sure to meet in person (if possible) and check how organized SHE is on reviewing what is included. See how quickly she responds to you and how thorough she is. And get multiple referrals!!

thanks, ladies! this is definitely helpful! Can I also ask what your thoughts are on negotiating package prices if what they curently have is more than what you need/able to pay?
