I am just curious to see how long people have been together. Reading alot of these posts, people are together for like years before they get engaged. I got engaged after 10 months and we will be married just 2 months shy of 2 years of the day we met. I am beginning to feel like I am the only one who hasn’t been with my fiance forever lol so let me know how long you have been with your SO. I guess i was engaged before (in my early 20s but we were together for 4 years befoer that) maybe because my new fiance and I are older (late 20’s – early 30’s)??

@krstino1012: We got married on our two year anniversary. We dated for 1 1/2 years and had a 6 month engagement. We were 30 when we met and 32 when we married!
Honestly though, in my husband’s culture, engagements are usually only 1-3 months, so his parents thought ours was “long”. hehe. Long engagements are more of a western society thing.

Our relationship and engagement will be just over 3 years total. That’s pretty short compared to some Bees I’ve seen!

We’ve been together for 6.5 years (7 years in may) – engaged on January 31st, and our wedding will be in september (7.25 years)
I agree that is depends on your ages as well, we started dating when I was 17 and he was 22, we’ll be 25 and 29 when we are married so we are still a bit young for marriage, but it’s been 7 years so I think it balances out, thats us though, every couple it different

@krstino1012: I said 1-2 years. but that was the amount of time officially together, we were both single and really close firends before. so it’s not like we had just meet.

We had been dating for 3 years when he proposed. Then our engagement was a little over 2 years. 🙂 So yeah.. we’ve been together a while

We got engaged after 7 years. We will be together 8 and a half years by the time we get married. We started dating when we were 18 and we’re in any rush to get engaged.

@Kafrine: Same with us! On our 4th dating anniversary as well We’re getting married in about 2 years, so we’ll have been together for about 7 years before we get married wish it was sooner!

I think it’s different when you are a bit older. I’m 21 and will be 23 when I get married and my Fiance will be 26 when we get married. We had been dating for almost 4 years when he proposed. I think it’s a bigger deal when you’re younger, because you’re still finding yourself and changing.

@krstino1012: My Fiance and I met in June of 2012. We were engaged by Christmas and we’re getting married this August. We were in a relationship for 3 months before getting engaged and dated for 6 months. We are getting married one day shy of our 1-yr anniversary.
Different strokes for different folks. 🙂

@krstino1012: We got engaged on our one year anniversary. Our engagement has so far been a little over a year long, and by the time we get married we will have been together 2.5 years, & engaged for 1.5…pretty short by today’s standard.

We dated for 6 months, lived together 10 months before he proposed and were engaged 3.5 months. So really short compared to a lot of bees. We’re in our 40’s, he has full custody of his children, we knew we were going to get married when I moved in.
Every relationship is different. I know couples who dated a very short time and are still together and couples who dated a very long time and ended up divorced

We were together for 11 months before he proposed

I think it depends if I met my Fi a couple of years ago when I didn’t have my job or money in order, and we probably would have dated for a few years. I’m one of those people who prefer being financially stable and I wasn’t ready to get married in my early to mid twenties.
I think it depends on a variety of factors and that was mine.
