I have a friend moving in at the end of the month. She will be staying with us for 2-3 months and this is her first big out of state move. If you were moving in for that amount of time would you value a more spacious room or more storage in a room?
So you can get a visual (of course it is the hardest room to get a clear picture of):
The room is just a normal sized bedroom, a bit larger than it appears in the pictures (ignore the cute dog photobomb)
It also has a large closet (it goes all the way to both walls)
To add even more storage to the room we could flip the bed to the opposite wall and put this piece of furniture in there (we have baskets and drawers that fit so the bottom can serve as a dresser)
After looking at these would you value the space or the storage more?

@cant.wait.to.be.mrs.d: I personally would want the storage, especially since shes moving out of state…it’ll be nice to easily access her stuff

For 2-3 months, I’d want more storage. Nothing ruins the feel of a spacious room faster than clutter that doesn’t fit in the closet. I would choose a smaller neater room over a larger room with clutter any day.

That’s a huge bedroom! I think you should ask your friend what she prefers. Only she will know her specific organization needs. If she is bringing furniture, she may prefer to have her own dresser. I’d just see what her opinion is!

I tend to like storage space more, especially if it’s only for a few months. How thoughtful of you to consider which would be better!

Is she renting a storage unit for her stuff? If not, I imagine she would want more storage. I also vote that you should just ask her though!

Luckily she’s not bringing any furniture!
I plan to, but today is my only day off to take care of these things and she is working non stop for the next couple of days! We just can’t get our ducks in a row 🙂

@cant.wait.to.be.mrs.d: Definitely more storage space! A big room does you no good if you have your things laying every where! Unless she has a need for a giant open space in the room (like maybe does workout videos or something) or can fit everything in the closet, I would add the storage space.

Our bedroom is small AND lacking in space so I guess I would love more storage space (we are in desperate need for a bigger closet… between dh and I we can barely fit all our clothes and shoes in the space we have now).

Clutter makes a room feel smaller, so I would much rather have the storage space to get everything put away and out of sight than to have more open square footage.

We live in a three bedroom town house with close to zero storage and it is such a pain. We are now renting a storage facility to keep decorations, momentos etc you know things that you would normally keep in your garage (if you had one). To not have a place to keep clutter at bay is the worst!
