We are flying into NYC on Dec 10, getting the marriage license stuff done that Friday, and then planning to be married on Sunday, the 12th. I originally planned an outdoor event, but it’s going to be too cold. I need help finding an indoor location. There will only be 12 of us, and I don’t want to spend too much. I’ve contacted a few restaurants, but nothing has really been much help yet.
I don’t need a very large, fancy place. We are a very informal group, but I do still want something nice. We are staying near Times Square, so I want to hopefully stay in the vicinity. Nothing more than 30min from this area, if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions that could help me?

Luckily since you are staying in Midtown you have are centrally located to a bunch of areas. What kind of style are you looking for, classic NYC? trendy?
A few ideas, some of these have private rooms – check OpenTable.com, Menupages.com, and Yelp.com for reviews, pictures, and info. Most of these are in Midtown unless I state differently, but in a cab these are all within 15 minutes from Times Square:
Hip and Trendy:
W Times Square
TAO (ask for the Skybox)
Kittichai (in Soho, thai food, beautiful, very very cool)
Lure Fishbar (also in Soho, very cool – ask for the wine vault)
Foodie (also very trendy, great ambiance):
Fig and Olive
Park Avenue Winter (Upper East Side)
A Voce Columbus
Alto (AMAZING and beautiful)
David Burke Townhouse (Upper East Side, beautiful)
Dos Caminos 3rd Ave (fun, upscale, Mexican place, great margaritas!!)
The Central Park Boathouse
The Russian Tea Room
The Four Seasons Hotel (ask for one of the private dining rooms)
The Plaza Hotel
The Water Club (ask for the Club Room)

If you’re looking for a good place to have a dinner reception. I’d recommend Carmine’s. It’s an italian restaurant that has family style service. Great for groups.

@katsupgirl: I was totally going to recommend Carmine’s – but I just thought it might be a bit too loud and touristy for a celebration dinner. But I do love the food!
After reviewing my huge list I picked up my top picks (incase that big list is overwhelming haha):
TAO (but you’ll have to explain the importance of your event – or they’ll make you wait forever)
Kittichai (great thai food, awesome decor, reasonably priced)
Alto (love love love this place. great italian food. beautiful decor. Brad and Angelina are a fan if that means anything haha)
The Central Park Boathouse (You could walk around the park in your bridal gear and take some kick ass pictures!)
good luck! can’t wait to hear what you pick!
