There were also a ton of cases that he settled outside of court, including having sex with multipe underage girls, secretly filming and circulating sex tapes, MARRYING A 15 YEAR OLD. He’s a pedophile and a piece of shit.

TBH the thing I’m maddest about is that he is only JUST NOW getting dropped and facing actual reprecussions. His escapades aren’t new, but because of #metoo people at least take it more seriously. But people have known for years that he was a pedo and fucking underage girls. They just didn’t give a shit about those girls because he was making them (record labels, etc) money.

It’s alarming how quick people are willing to throw all due process out the window nowadays. I’ll just say that much.

I think he’s fucked up. If you watched the interview with Gayle his behavior was beyond what most people would have likely reacted with.

He’s a weird dude who has always been weird but that was a different time and this is now.

He’s hardly the first, lots of other musicians have done the same things such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Steven Tyler, Ted Nugent, etc etc etc. There are a lot of famous folks who have diddled little kids. It’s not right in any of the cases.

Agreed…..pedophile and POS.  This man has been getting away with this shit for years.  Aliyaah is old and very known news.  I cannot believe my own community was and mostly still is fully supportive of this monster and the parents who have pimped their daughters…..especially the girl in the video….I just can’t!

I mean…Jesus Christ….they actuallty found child porn in his residence!

Sorry for all the mess around my previous post–don’t know why that happened.

False accusations of rape are very rare, especially when you consider that most sexual assaults go unreported: https://www.thecut.com/article/false-rape-accusations.html

Information on the subject is widely available online.

cassandra7 :  This exactly. And there is a difference between false accusation and not continuing to press charges/settling out of court. I am sick of people thinking just because a victim choses to retract or drop charges it means the accusation is false.

I was sexually assualted and chose to press charges. I was harrassed and bullied by the victims friends/family.  My whole life was put on trial during court proceedings. My families lives were put on trial, namely my sisters, during the trial. I only proceeded because I had a really strong support system and had an unfaultable (though they still tried) history (as in 1 long term boyfriend, still a virgin). They dragged everything about me through the mud, including my ethnicity.

if we actually had a fair justice system where people couldn’t buy their way out of a trial then maybe there would be less of this dog-whistling about false accusations. If we had a fair justice system that protected victims there would be less dog-whistling about false accusations.

R.Kelly is a scumbag and anyone supporting him is just as bad.

Kslim13 :  LOCK HIS ASS UP. Like fucking yesterday. I’m so angry that there are people feeling sorry for his ass.

The whole segment of him trying to explain away him not “needing” to lock women up and abuse them was classic “let me repeat how crazy this shit sounds so you’ll second guess my ability to even do something so crazy, even though I actually did all that crazy shit” gaslighting. Fuck him x1000

Kslim13 :  What are these “so many” false rape accusations flying around lately?

He’s a known pedophile. The aggressiveness and anger he showed in this interview did him no favors IMO. Gayle King did a fantastic job continuously pressing the hard questions and keeping her composure while he was literally standing over her while yelling and beating his chest. He said he’d NEVER had sex with anyone under 17 but he MARRIED Aaliyah when she was 15!!!

Plus, he owes $160,000 in back child support. This rich scumbag can’t even pay his fucking child support. He should be in jail.

Kslim13 :  The kind of cases you are talking about are SO few and far between. The majority of rape/sexual assault victims are telling the truth and it seems to be those rare cases of a crazy girlfriend that stick out and bring ther rest of us down.

I’m a victim of being sexually abused as a teenager. Not many people know it because it scares me to tell people and worry what they would think. I’ve had to endure many painful conversations with people talking about how all of these “me too” women knew exactly what they were getting into. It really sucks to sit their silently wanting to die.

As a woman I would really think less about why women lie and more about why men have been raping and abusing women since the dawn of time. If men didn’t abuse their power than women wouldn’t be able to lie at all, because men would be good and there would be nothing to lie about.

There have been several really thoroughly researched articles about Robert Kelly and his targeting of young black girls for YEARS. One of the articles I read years ago (during one of his failed attempts at a comeback) pointed out that there was a junior high school in Chicago where everyone knew he would come trolling. I think the point that many people have made- that he’s gotten away with his behavior for so long because he’s got a lot of handlers and protectors around him and because his victims have been black girls – are both true.

I also know of someone who was the focus of his attention for a while so I’ve been recalling some of the things she said about her experience.

ETA- I hope you aren’t saying your opinion is 50/50 about R. Kelly. If so, you should do a thorough read of a few of the articles that have come out and check back.
