False rape accusations rarely lead to a conviction, because one key thing is missing: DNA evidence. So let’s please stop perpetuating the false accusation assumption. This is one of the main reasons why real victims don’t come forward.

Kslim13 :  I’m going to need some sources here… As others have said, false rape accusations are very very very rare. Dropped charges don’t mean the victim was lying. It means they fucking gave up because it is fucking HARD to pursue this kind of thing and put yourself out there when you’re constantly bullied, harassed, and intimidated.

I haven’t watched the interview yet but have read a bit about it, And i watched all the lifetime docuseries, I already knew he was a perve as there have been “rumors” over the years and many were proven.

I hope he goes to prison, he deserves it. It’s mind blowing that he’s gotten away with it for so long, with so many victims.

i won’t lie though, I do love his music though and don’t usually skip over one of his songs when listening to my older playlists, shitty I know..

Kslim13 :  I am also big on crime documentaries and a criminal lawyer but definitely not 50/50 on believing people who come forward with sexual assault allegations.  As many PP have said, there are very very few instances of individuals lying, and many times, people who say they made it up just say that to make it go away because people are so cruel to them.

This is especially common in the miltary – one of my coworkers is a military judge and he told me recently that in all of the cases he has presided over, the juries have convicted 0 men who are accused of sexually assaulting women, though he believes (personally) that the vast majority of these women WERE assaulted.  The system regularly fails victims of sexual assault.

I’ve read a lot about R Kelly over the years and it’s disgusting how long he’s been able to get away with sexual assault and child abuse.  I hope that the criminal justice system is successful at holding him accountable.

Anyone who saw Surviving R Kelly would not be asking if he is an innocent victim being set up by angry women.

I believe the women. Not only that, there is video proof.

Yes! This is so true and so frustratingly sad.

Also, as the not believing people because sometimes it takes them years to come forward, there are several reasons for this.

#1 – Being raped or sexually assaulted is a lot to come to terms with. Women don’t even want to admit TO THEMSELVES that this has happened to them. So they deny, make excuses, compartmentalize, try to will it all away. It can takes years to actually be able to admit to yourself that you’ve been raped, let alone be ready to actually file charges or speak publicly about it.

#2 – Strength in numbers. Say you’re assaulted by someone, especially someone powerful or well-known, if you come out against that person you become a target. They have fame and money on their side, but here you are all alone. But if you hear another person had this same thing happen to them, you feel stronger, like you’re not alone. Other women were victims too. So that’s a big reason that once there’s one accusation, a lot more people come out of the woodwork. Because finally it feels like if you unite all your voices together, you will be heard.

#3 – You see your abuser rising to a level of power and you realize that people should know what they did. For the greater good. Even though it’s incredibly difficult to come forward (think Dr. Ford in the Kavanaugh case). It’s like you’ve stayed silent for so long but you can’t stay silent anymore. Not when so much is at stake.

Those are just a few reasons off the top of my head. The fact is that it’s very rare that victims lie about this sort of thing. I’m not saying it never happens, but we need to get over this narrative or it being a common occurrence. It’s not. Period.

I kind of think he did it, but I also found it interesting that at least two of his “victims” said that their parents told them to lie to him and to the police about their age (saying they were 18). So what of that?

He also made a point that if one person comes forward, it’s very easy for random exes to join in the chorus either for monetary gain or to get revenge. While I think it’s improbable they are all lying, I also wouldn’t be surprised if some of the women have nefarious motives.

But what about the videos? There is one video they couldn’t technically prove was him from years back and then the new video which it’s very clearly him where the girl refers to her body parts as “14 year old” body parts.

You’re referring to his 2 live-in “girlfriends” whose families say they’ve been brainwashed and abused and held against their will by R. Kelly for years. Apparently that kind of thing is par for the course with R. Kelly. Just ask his ex-wife.

Also, as others have said, there is VIDEO EVIDENCE that he has had sex with underage girls. He married a 15 year old when he was 27. 15! People are acting like this is all rumors and speculation but it’s not. Not by a long shot.

Kslim13 :  if it walks like a pedo rapist, talks like a pedo rapist, acts like a pedo rapist, it’s probably a pedo rapist.

If *one* person calls you a pedo rapist, the problem might be that person. But probably not because if we don’t believe victims of assault first and foremost we are failing them.

IF DOZENS OF PEOPLE MAKE ACCUSATIONS OF YOU ASSAULTING THEM WHILE THEY WERE UNDER AGE OVER MANY YEARS, YOU’RE PROBABLY GUILTY.
