Wow I live in the backwoods and tell people to F*** themselves all the time for making racist and homophobic comments but this is really backwoods and 20 years behind. I cant believe in NYC you have more issues than around here. Im glad you got it figured out.

@redheadem:  I haven’t finalized the seating arrangement yety, but yes I am having to concider this because of my FI’s family who are very homophobic. I don’t think we are going to have any racists ( that I know of) but we will have our friends who are gay and my mothers friend who is transsexual, so it has been interesting trying to figure it out.

@redheadem:  I’m mixed (black/white) and so is Fiance. Our families are pretty open minded. We don’t have to worry about racism or homophobia so much as political views. My uncle, my great aunt, and his mother have very VERY strong views. 2 are democrats and one is a die hard republican team NRA type. THAT will be interesting. I’ve got my fingers crossed and praying that the subject doesn’t come up somehow.

I’m Chinese and my FI’s family are super white and from the middle of nowhere, yet somehow I managed to get the awesome backwoods in-laws who love me. It was my initial worry when I first met them, that they wouldn’t like their blond haired, blue eyed son dating a Chinese girl. But they are so amazing. I got lucky.

Oof not looking forward to this issue either- fortunately my relatives that have “issues” with LGBT people are usually not super vocal about it, but I’m glad dinner is before dancing because it’s going to be pretty obvious that one of our groomsmen is dancing with his new husband…

@redheadem:  Prejudiced works. You’d think we could all just get along for a couple hours. But that’d be way to easy 🙂 Good luck!

Wow…just wow. In this day and age to have to worry about who is homophobic or racist is absolutely moronic!! I haven’t even taken any of that into consideration because if someone makes a comment about my friends (I have gay, different races and different religions in my mix of friends…it all works for our circle!) then they will be asked to leave because I do not tolerate that kind of discrimination to be around me or my children (I’m an encore bride and have a 15 yr old son and 11 yr old daughter) but I’m kinda blunt like that.

Good luck with those types of people and I’m so sorry you actually have to worry about that for “your day”.

So glad this is not something I have to worry about! I know not all of my guests have the same beliefs on things, but I’m pretty sure that most of them won’t be bringing them up at the dinner table.
