I wouldn’t give up hope just yet. Since it’s right before the holidays, I wouldn’t be surprised if people making decisions/calling candidates back are out of the office OR not prioritizing making hiring decisions right before the holidays. Follow up with them after the new year.

I would try following up with them. My Fiance was in pretty much the same situation as you a few months ago, he had done a few interviews and they said they’d follow up by a certain time and they didn’t. The day after their follow up deadline, he called them to follow up himself, and basically he got the job, they were just busy and weren’t able to draft the offer letter yet. It happens, just because they say they’ll follow up by a certain time doesn’t mean they will, and if they don’t follow up by then it doesn’t mean you don’t have the job. I wouldn’t panic yet, I’d try calling them and see what’s going on.

If you didn’t get the job, he should just tell you over email. I would think wanting to call you would be a positive, but I agree the tone of the email sounds like they chose someone else. Also calling you on a Saturday morning is so strange.

I remember your other post about this job, and it sounds like these people don’t have their act together. Obviously I know zero about this company or their situation, so I don’t want to give you any bad advice or talk you out of a job, but I would do some careful consideration whether this is a good fit for you.

worriedbeehere11 :  I’m a recruiter and I would never schedule a phone call to tell someone they didn’t get a job, I just send an email. I’ll tell them via phone if they call me, otherwise I don’t want to waste my time- especially on a Saturday, so weird.

I’m wondering if maybe they have another oppportunity that they’d like to consider you for? Obviously I know nothing about this company, but I just find it hard to believe they’d set up a call just to tell you “You didn’t get the job, see ya!”

How did you respond to the email, did you tell him the phone call tomorrow was ok?

Hopeful for you! I’ve never had someone schedule to call to tell me I didn’t get the job…they have had to schedule when they had a few extra minutes to tell me I DID and go over details!

worriedbeehere11 :  So weird, I would be tempted to say “I’m AVAILABLE NOW” lol. The wait would kill me.

Please update us after your conversation tomorrow.
