I saw reception raffle tickets online. I was thinking they could be used instead of the dollar dance. The guests would pay a dollar a ticket, then me and my fiance would pick a ticket at the end of the reception and the winner of the drawing would get a gift. To me it almost seems like a good idea, but part of me thinks it is rude.
What do you think?

Sorry, not a fan. I think it likens back to asking for money. I usually buy raffle tickets at charity events, so really not a fan of the idea, it would just be awkward.

I say if you were thinking of doing the dollar dance stick with that. I dont know that I like the idea of someone winning a gift at a reception

I think its a bit hokey and wont be well accepted. Sorry 🙂

I say no too. Stick with the dollar dance if that’s what you really wanted.

Atleast with a dollar dance your guests will actually get to dance with you. The raffle idea sounds like a fundraiser which is a big no-no for a wedding reception.

I agree with other posters. I am not a fan!

Vote = Heck no.
It’s a wedding not a fund raiser. You are already asking your guests to take time out, come to your celebration, and most guests will bring a gift. Asking for more is really just pushing it, and may change people’s perceptions of you.

Well I certainly not buy a raffle ticket.

Haha. Only if you are donating the money to charity.
