Hi! I’m looking for a new prenatal and read a lot of good reviews about the Rainbow Light Just Once Prenatal. What I’m really wondering about is the size. Exactly how big is it? Did it work for you and would you recommend it?
I used to take a mixture of small vitamins that was equivalent to prenatals (Rite Aid One Daily + Rite Aid Calcium + Sundown Naturals Folic Acid + Sundown Naturals Perfect Iron + Friggs Omega-3). It sounds like a lot but it worked for me because they were small pills and never got me nauseous or caused any stomach upsets. But I ran out.
Now I’m taking New Nordic Multivitamins for Pregnant and Breastfeeding, which are pretty good, but they’re expensive. They’re the size of regular calcium pills but I have to take 3 a day, which I don’t mind doing, but I definitely need to eat something when I take them. And I still take an extra folic acid, omega-3, and calcium pill with them (to equal the amount I normally take/what’s usually found in prenatals).
So ladies, what are you taking? I’m looking forward to your recommendations!

I’ve been taking Rainbow Light Prenatal since the beginning of the year – it was at the suggestion of the Bees 🙂
It’s a larger pill (3/4″) but it sits just fine, I’ve never been nauseous once from it and I have a pretty sensitive stomach when it comes to vitamins.
I take this with the addition of a DHA supplement. It was pretty important to me that I take a vitamin that’s natural and vegetarian – and something that I could stomach – and this combo has been just perfect. I plan on continuing use through breastfeeding as well.

I’m taking it right now. It’s actually a pretty easy pill to swallow. I think it’s formulated to be gentle on your stomach. I take it with an equally big fish oil pill to no problem.

I take the Rainbow Light Complete Prenatal System – you take 6 a day. They are normal sized vitamins but they kinda smell funny. I have to take them while eating. I take these because they have a lot of calcium and I am not too big on milk. I didn’t realize they had some that were only one a day vitamins!

I take the Rainbow Light Just Once prenatal and I highly recommend it. My midwife recommended that I use it, and it’s formulated to be gental on your stomach. The pill isn’t too large. I think it has a little coating on it so it’s easy to swallow.
The “just once” Rainbow LIght is a little bigger, but you take it only once a day. I saw the prenatal system, but I knew that I’d forget to take 6 pills a day.

I’m taking (and my OB/GYN has given me the green light on all these)
- New Chapter Perfect Prenatal
- Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA
- krill oil
- vitamin D (2000 IU, for a total of ~3500 IU/day between all my vitamins)
- folic acid (extra 400 mcg, for a total of 1000 mcg between all my vitamins)
The Rainbow Light prenatals were my second choice. I personally would go with the multiple pills per day because it’s better for absorbancy if you spread out your vitamins throughout the day; some vitamins your body can only absorb so much at once.

I was taking them but I am not at good pill swallower at all. For me they were too big so I resorted to crushing them up and eating with applesauce. I switched once I finished the bottle as that gets old. I saw at Whole Foods once that they have Rainbow Light Petites. I don’t know for sure how much smaller, but its something to consider, though they were more pricey. Good luck!

I use take Rainbow Light Complete which required you to take 6 pills a day. Normal size. I decided to switch to New Chapter Prenatal Complete. I buy my vitamins from Amazon. Rainbow was around 19 and New Chapter is around $35. I also take DHA and Milk Thistle. DH is on his multi vitamin and DHA as well. Making sure his swimmers are healthy.

I’m bumping this because I just started taking these on Friday. This is our first month TTC.
Anyways, I felt fine Saturday and Sunday. (I’ve been taking them at night with dinner). But today I feel extremely dizzy with a headache, hot headed, shakey, and my urine is bright (almost neon) yellow. Looks kind of like gatorade…
Did anyone else have these kind of symptoms? I’m getting a little worried and hoping they pass, but if they don’t I’m going to have to take off work because it’s so bad.

The bright yellow urine is due to your body not being able to absorb all of the B vitamins. I take these and my urine turns bright yellow and it’s always a good check for me that I took my vitamin that morning. I did not have any of your other symptom as a result of the prenatal
