I’m married!! Actually it’s been a week 🙂
During the planning process, I found unsolicited planning suggestions and ideas to be pretty annyoing. But some of my recently married friends had some very helpful day-of advice that I really appreicated (hold your bouquet down by your bellybutton so it doesn’t cover the top of your dress, designate a bridesmaid to be the go-to person for questions, etc, etc). So here’s mine for every bride:
Ask for a plate of your cocktail h’orderves to be brought to you at your table at the reception. Your cocktail hour is going to go by SO FAST. And even if you have time to eat some of the apps, you’ll find yourself scarfing them down in between photos, greetings, and hugs. I loved our apps but I didn’t really get a chance to really enjoy them because I was always trying to finish them really fast, keep them from getting on my dress, or skipping a bite altogether, asking the server to come back to me. One server actually did bring me plate with all three apps on it while I was getting bustled, but even then I was in such a rush to get back to the party that I only ate a couple.
The day before our wedding, our coordinator asked if there was anything special we wanted brought to us with dinner. I wish I’d thought to ask for a plate of our h’orderves. They were great about making sure we had time to eat our dinner (seved us first) so we definitely would’ve had time to enjoy some apps during the speeches. So yeah. That’s my random piece of advice, especially if you’re a big foodie like me 🙂
