So I’m about to pull the trigger and order our wedding invites but I’m Not sure how far in advance I’m supposed to send them out? I want the RSVPs sent back to me, physically my possession by 8/20
What date do you Bees recommend? Thanks!!

@Starling13: Invitations should be sent no earlier then 6-8 weeks before your event date.
You will only invite more problems on yourself if your invitations are sent too early, or you will not get an accurate count.
Definitely spread the word though about the date and location before then though, as presumably you are inviting people with whom you are in regular contact. It’s not like the physical invite is the first they are hearing of the event.

As PP said, 6-8 weeks is the perfect amount of time (especially if you have already sent out STDs). If you’re wedding is the beginning of September, send them out the beginning of July. After the invitations arrive, that will give guests about a month to RSVP.

Thanks for the advice! The wedding actually 9/21 and STDs were sent out mid-March which also has our website listed. Is a 7/15 reciept date a good marker?

@Starling13: 8 weeks which is already the outside limit, is July 20th to send the invitations. The 15th is only a few days earlier, but I wouldn’t stress about 5 days. I also don’t think there is any benefit to 5 extra days.
