Just for fun-
I use the “like” button on facebook a lot. I use it when things are funny or to thank someone for advice. I have found that since the addition of the helpful button on WB- I am using it like I use the Like button. Am I using it correctly?

Although I don’t do “Fakebook”, I think it is supposed to be a like button. I think the term “helpful” though is kind of dumb. They could have just left it as a thumbs up.

Lolasmomma: That is what I have been using it for!
I wonder if it gives the bee notification that their post was “helpful”?

I use it as a like button

I use it as a like betton as well… or if someone WAS particularly helpful.

I actually really like that they used the term “Helpful” even thought it doesn’t really work in some situtations.
I think the majority of posts on this site are people asking for advice about something. So I think it’s really nice to think about, if a responce is helpful to the OP. Asking myself “Is this helpful?” is one of the ways I try to avoid snark and try to be respectful of other bees. So it’s a nice little reminder.
But it doesn’t really make sense if the post is about funny giffs or something like that – in those instances I use it as a “Like” button.

I think I read from one of the Mods that they’re planning on eventually using it to “promote” the most helpful posts/users (Maybe moving them to the top of the thread or giving the option to arrange the comments in ‘most helpful first’ vs chronological order or something)

leisha606: No. It doesn’t. I wish it did though, like being +1nd..

I don’t like that it says ‘helpful’, it’s dumb, I just use it as a ‘like’ button.
