I was just looking at my hotel block for our wedding, and I noticed two random people made a reservation under our block. We don’t know who they are and aren’t invited to our wedding. I reached out to the hotel to sort it out, but has this happened to anyone / does anyone know how this even happens??

I have seen where people have offered their room block discount to “strangers” on a travel forum when they didn’t think they would reach their minimum.

In your case it was probably an error by the hotel staff.

Are they perhaps the SO of a guest? When my husband and I travel, everything is booked in my name, because I have all the frequent flyer accounts, and I did not take his last name, so if we booked into a group set up by one of his friends, they might not recognize my name.

Horseradish : might be onto something!
I have a rewards account for a hotel chain so I can get points as well as discounts. It’s common for me to help friends to book stuff with my account and then they pay me back instantly through Venmo.

It’s not unusual, I work in hotel sales. Most likely it’s staff error. Your hotel contact should be able to sort it for you.

Is your block information on your wedding website? I have come across tons of couples wedding websites with their codes right out in the open.

caparker : yes, it happened at my Fiance sister wedding. We went to hotel and used key to room with someone last name White (his last name White) and it wasn’t anyone in our family!!
I think hotel just assumed. So bad!
