That’s NTNP 🙂 You’ve likely seen that acronym around the boards.  It stands for Not Trying Not Preventing.

I dunno, to me it’s pretty much the same as TTC.  But I think people who use it mean that they aren’t charting or specifically timing sex – just doing their thing and seeing what happens.

@SadieBee:  Well we plan to go with NTNP for a few months, and even though I am charting and timing intercourse, maybe I won’t be hard core trying. To me that’s the difference between NTNP and TTC, just sort of taking as it goes. Maybe someone can correct me?

@candy11:  I guess for me, I know I couldn’t just “see what happens.”  To me, if we’re not preventing in any way, I know when I’m fertile, and we’re specifically trying during the fertile window…..that’s trying to get pregnant.  And it’s not like I would just be like, “Oh, look at that, my period’s late…maybe I’ll take a test.”  I’d be just as frustrated and impatient during the TWW Tongue Out

@SadieBee:  Yeah I get it. In my case, it’s a bit different due to DH performance problems, and I can almost assure you there s no way I can get pregnant right now even if we BD during ovulation 🙁 We are working on it, sorry TMI.

@candy11:  Gotcha – and as far as I’m concerned, there’s no such thing as TMI on the TTC boards Tongue Out I think I can understand NTNP for people who may have problems conceiving.  I have no reason to think we’ll have issues (you never know, but I seem to have a normal cycle), so for me, I just couldn’t ever call it that.

OP, sorry for sort of threadjacking here!  Hope you got your answer Smile
