What’s the secret to getting a good, reliable mattress cover? I have been through a few and before I try another one, I want to figure out what I’m doing wrong! We have a king sized bed, and the mattress cover I bought does this SUPER annoying slipping-down thing and I am constantly having to tug it and our fitted sheet back up around the corners of the mattress. It’s driving me insane and I can’t seem to find a good one!!

We don’t use a mattress cover. Why do you use one? Are there ones that zip and are more fitted?
We have a memory foam mattress and just have the fabric cover it came with, so it’s custom fitted (kind of the equivalent to the fabric on the outside of an innersprung mattress, I guess?)

We got some straps that hook onto the corners of the mattress cover that help keep it tight against the mattress. We used to have a problem with it bunching up in the middle before we started using the straps.

@crayfish: I just prefer the feeling of sleeping with something between my sheet and the mattress. We have a nice Serta Pillow-Top mattress, so it’s very comfy but I just like the little extra cushion of a mattress cover and fitted sheet. I think a memory foam mattress would be easier to deal with in these situations!

I actually got mine at TJ Maxx for like 30 bucks and didn’t put much thought into it, I’ve never had a problem with it. Guess i got lucky!

@MsJ2theZ: I think the reason we have problems with ours is because we have a queen size bed, but I think Darling Husband bought a king size mattress cover. He bought it before I met him, and I haven’t replaced it because it’s still in excellent condition.

I have a queen size matress that has a pillow top and the matress cover I bought has never slipped off. I got it at Art Van and it is called dri-tec. It was a little pricey ($100) but it has a 10 year warrenty. I’ve had it for about a year and a half and so far I love it. It is waterproof so no stains will seep though to the matress and it is cloth so it isn’t that nasty plastic that makes all the crinkling noises.
