It seems so common for bridal parties to all get Starbucks together on the wedding morning, and post pictures of their cups (usually with one that says “the bride” instead of the bride’s actual name) on facebook along with their other wedding day pictures.
When did this become a tradition? And why? I’m not complaining, I’m just legitimately curious.

sunflower22: I don’t know why Starbucks is a thing. It’s just over priced coffee that you can get somewhere else better and cheaper. Also, I get ragey with what they call their size drinks. It is small, medium, and large. I don’t need some overly cool hipster name for the size of my coffee, TYVM. I have no idea why that irritates me so much, but it does.

sunflower22: I’m not sure when it became a tradition but I blame Pinterest!! lol! Although I have always assumed I’d have Starbucks the morning I get married because I have it pretty regularly anyway. That being said, none of my friends did this. They had mimosas and things like that for the girls while we were getting ready. Although I can see how going out and getting something like that for the morning of would be fun to do.

Starbucks is a cultural thing now. People get really emotionally attached to their Starbucks and it is a comfort item for a lot of people.
So then, they write the names on the cups and people think its a cute picture.

sunflower22: where is it a thing? I’ve never seen anyone in my area do it (NY/NJ). We had mimosas while getting ready. My venue also had coffee, tea, juice, and water but nothing was from Starbucks.

Meh, it is just a trend just like anything else in the wedding world. Just like the “shabby chic” or “rustic” wedding.

Not going to lie:I think this would be AMAZING if someone convinced Tim Horton’s to write bridal party positions on their cups!

I have to assume it’s a thing only because there is no Dunkin Donuts nearby!!

Weddings are long days and coffee is one of the few things that can get you up after a night of nerves. Most girls wake up early to have their hair/makeup done, which leaves Starbucks as one of the few options open early. On top of that, on your wedding day, some people just love telling everyone that it is there wedding day, and they will likely be the same people that will “live tweet” their lives.

sunflower22: Honestly not sure how this really became a thing. I have a bit of a coffee obsession, but I make it at home and drink it while getting ready, rather than overpay for it on my way to work.
That said, I’m getting married on 7.11.15 and my mom is dead-set on getting a slurpee and writing bride on it as a play on the starbucks thing. I’d prefer mimosas.
