I don’t think I could personally handle a friend like that..Those kind of people make me sick! Jesus you don’t get animals because of your mood. Ugh.

Friiiiiiig. That makes me so angry. Fiance and I have three dogs – so we’re obviously animal lovers. But we take care of our freaking animals because that’s what you do when you get them. PETS ARE NOT TOYS. Ugh. I feel for you – that’s gotta be frustrating to take care of someone elses animals, but I also commend you for taking on so many of her pets.

Ugh. I’m sitting here with my three dogs all sleeping next to me and I just feel so heartbroken at the thought of someone getting a dog (or a cat, or a turtle, or a bunny, or a freaking fish) and not giving it the love, the attention, and the proper care that it deserves. A pet is a lifetime commitment.

I could go on and on but I’d just be adding to your rant – so I’ll finish it by again commenting on what a good person you are for doing what you’ve done, and praying that this puppy that she recently bought gets taken care of the way it should. 🙁

@Baimee:  All I can do is sympathize.  I HATE people who don’t treat their animals correctly.  If you can’t take care of it, you shouldn’t have it.

I would love a pug dog.  I want one so badly.  I have wanted one for the last 6 years, and have refrained because I know I can’t give it the attention it would need.  I don’t understand why people can’t put two and two together.  Animals have feelings too!  Sometimes you’ve got to do what’s best for your potential pet!

It bothers me that people see pets/animals a throw away items. It’s not a dress, it’s a living breathing animal that needs love and attention and proper care. UGH

Ugh I haaaaaate this.

I live in a college town and I see peopel ALL THE TIME who do this crap.

It also drives me nuts when people bring home a cat, don’t spay/neuter, and then let it roam outside all the time. :/

And don’t even get me started on how badly behaved everyone’s dogs seem to be around here.

*Sigh*

What can you do? Oh well.

Ugh. Makes me sick. I’ve come to the conclusion that pet stores should never sell puppies and kittens. (The breeders can get them from breeders, everyone else can get them from a pet shelter). Perhaps one day it will banned. The other day I read a news story about a pet store here in Australia which is refusing to sell puppies in the lead up to Christmas. They have received a lot of praise for it, but I hope it doesn’t cost them business. http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/adelaide-store-refuses-to-sell-impulse-buy-pets/story-fneszs56-1226534742132

@Baimee:  I’m not sure if you’ve had a serious conversation with her about it yet or not, but if you haven’t I think you should consider it.  That’s very irresponsible behavior.  IMO, getting a dog is a decision that is bigger than all but a small handful of other decisions that are made in life.  I believe, in many ways, that it’s actually a bigger decision than buying a house.  It’s a 12-15 year commitment in most cases, and should not be the product of boredom or temporary emotion.

You are right to be upset.

Whoa.. So HOW many animals does she own?  And do they all live with you or do some live with her and her boyfriend at his place?  This is INSANE!!!  I think it’s time for an intervention!

That is terrible! I don’t understand how people treat animals that way. 🙁 Those poor animals.

How much longer are you living with your friend? Personally I would make arrangements to look for a place on your own.

Amen. Actions have concequences, and a pet can’t be a snap choice.
