Ok, I have my heart set on my venue and I met with the venue coordinator (VC) 2 weeks ago. She was on a personal phone call when I got there (I was right on time) and she spoke in front of me about her texes and refund for over 15 minutes. I sat in the small office while she finished her phone call and I as annoyed from the get go. She went over the facility details (which I read already online) and I wanted to see it and get right to the price part!
She took me to the building and showed me around and spoke about the amenities. At that point, I asked what the fees, etc would be. I told her it would be a Sunday wedding and the exact date and she said she had the date open. They charge $750 for outside vendor/caterer fee, $10 per person for the facility (they have all chairs, tables, uplighting, pro sound system, 2 bars) and she told me parking prices and options. She also said they do beverage in-house and that it was $20pp beer/wine and $30pp for premium liquor. I was calculating everything in my head and definitely excited that it may work with our budget!! The venue is GORGEOUS, modern, and attached to a hotel but not part of it.
After the total of 10 minutes she spent with me, I asked her to send me some quotes and info of what she had told me (so I’d have it in writing). She walked out and I told her I wanted to walk around the dock/marina outside and she disappeared. I guess the meeting was over wtf?!
I went to a sushi place in the hotel for lunch and emailed her. Her reply was exactly what she had quoted me. I went on Instagram to hashtag the venue name (it’s fairly new) and came across one girl whose sister had her wedding there 10 weeks ago. She had tons of pics and it looked like a blast!! I messaged her and asked how it was. She replied and said the hotel was amazing, they had a blast and the venue is gorgeous, BUT the coordinator was crazy, unprofessional, and a drunk. She said she let people not in the guests into the bar to get drinks!!! And she yelled at the maid of honor and was wasted and a bitch! ughhhhhh I started to get real nervous. I asked her if her name was…and she said yes, omg that’s her! EEEEEEK!!! I tried to put it out of my mind…
Fast forward to last night. I met with the event planner recommended by her. AMAZING. The meeting was perfection and I was so excited to hear Event Planner (EP) prices-she’ll be emailing me Monday. She said she was meeting with VC today and that she would ask if she held my date that it is a holiday weekend and I should definitely put the down payment (which VC told me was 10%). She asked me what the venue quoted me and I said $10 pp, etc. She was like wow, that’s super low and their minimum was usually 6K. I said I thought it was because it’s a Sunday. I specifically told my EP I wanted night time.
This afternoon, I received a text from EP saying she was with VC and she would be emailing me soon a contract. I got the contract shortly afterand it was $10pp for venue, $20pp for alcohol, and taxes, gratuity, and fees. $6404 for 150 people. JUST FOR VENUE AND BEER AND WINE. AND it said 6:30-10:30 at the top of the contract. It also said info about down payment, payments, cancellation, etc was attached and it was not.
I spoke to my fiance and Mom and they were cool with it. I get another text from EP, asking me to email my original message from the VC quoting the $10pp. So I did. Then I get another email from VC, with a new quote of $8800!!!!!!!!!!!! She said $10 is a day wedding fee and night is $25!!! WTF?!?!?!?!??! 🙁 She’s a complete moron and I immediately felt like I was being ripped off by a shady person! Not that I don’t think the venue itself is worth it, but the bish does not deserve a dime extra with her unprofessionalism! SMH
I cooled down and called her and expressed my concerns and she tried to skate around her error blaming it on misunderstanding and said she asked her owner and he wouldn’t budge. BS! I asked then, WHY WHY WHY would she send me the $10pp in the first place?! She said (FIRST) the quote was for a daytime event!!!! I said then WHY WHY WHY did it say 6:30-10:30 at the top?!?! Then she said after she spoke with EP, she was waiting to hear back from her other coordinator and owner to see if they made a deal with me that she didn’t know about?!??!?! SO SHADY! I told her she needed to meet me halfway and that I wanted the day price at night and we would upgrade to full bar (+$10 pp) OR I would have the night and pay the $25pp and she needed to upgrade the bar for me! She wouldn’t have it! I said I would need to reconsider and then she effing tells me oh, by the way…your date is on boat show weekend and I cannot guarantee there won’t be tons of people around the venue and you cannot have the dock for the ceremony and hotel rooms prob won’t be available!!!!! WTF?!?!?!??!?! WHEN was she going to tell me THIS?!?! I bitched again and she said “let me call you back and see what I can do”. She called back LITERALLY 45 seconds later and says “my owner said the lowest we can do for night is $20”. REALLY?! You spoke to him in 45 seconds?! I said I would speak with my fiance and get back to her.
Now, I’m in love with the venue but I hate this lady and don’t want to give her my business. SO UPSET. Again, NOT that I don’t think the venue was worth it, but it would have 100% been out of the question for night time with that price, intially.
A. Pick a new date, book it for daytime
B. Pick a new date, book it for night
C. Tell her to take a flying leap!!!!!!!
